Apple‘s “Let Loose” iPad event is just over a week away, and the rumors surrounding it are getting fascinating. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the much-anticipated OLED iPad Pro may not use the new M3 processor that we’ve all been anticipating, but rather the next-generation M4. Gurman said in the Power On newsletter on Sunday that he’s “hearing there is a strong possibility” that this will happen. And he claims it will mark Apple’s formal debut into AI.
“It is my belief that Apple will present the tablet as their initial AI-powered product, and that they will promote every subsequent product as an AI device,” Gurman wrote. If this approach is used for the May 7 event, it will pave the way for Apple to fully embrace artificial intelligence (AI) during the June Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). All of this builds on Gurman’s earlier claims that Apple has been in discussions with Google and OpenAI about using their AI technology for new capabilities in iOS 18.
It is anticipated that the iPad Air and iPad accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil would receive upgrades as part of the “Let Loose” product preview. Gurman claims that the next Apple Pencil could have haptic feedback.
