Mustafa Suleyman and Karén Simonyan joined Microsoft less than a month ago to develop Microsoft AI, an entity dedicated to enhancing Copilot and other consumer AI products. The launch of this new organization’s London office, which was announced yesterday, is just one of its many expansions.
In a recent blog post written by Mustafa Suleyman “Microsoft AI London will drive pioneering work to advance state-of-the-art language models and their supporting infrastructure, and to create world-class tooling for foundation models, collaborating closely with our AI teams across Microsoft and with our partners, including OpenAI.”
The leader of the new hub is Jordan Hoffmann, an AI scientist and engineer who previously worked in the field at Inflection and Deep Mind. Alongside other talents in the field of AI, he will carry on his duties from an office located in Paddington. For the time being, it looks like there are still positions that need to be filled within the team that will operate in London. The aforementioned blog post also reveals that job openings will be revealed in the coming weeks and months, as Microsoft aims to hire “exceptional individuals who want to work on the most interesting and challenging AI questions of our time.”
In addition to working on language models and their infrastructure, Microsoft AI London will also be in charge of creating tooling for foundation models. The list of products involved includes Copilot. Microsoft is also operating a research lab in Cambridge and recently announced its plan to bring 20,000 advanced GPUs for AI to the country by 2026 as part of a massive £2.5 billion ($3.15 billion) investment.
Those working with Copilot AI or planning to do so should check out Arthur W. Edge’s comprehensive manual, Microsoft Copilot AI Integration in Office 365, which is currently available for $15.90 on Amazon.
