Tesla has reduced the beginning costs of its Model Y, Model X, and Model S for customers in the US by $2,000 in another round of price reductions. On Friday night, the company’s North American branch announced on X that Tesla is changing to the Model Y and that it is discontinuing its referral program perks across all markets. The “current referral program benefits will end after April 30,” according to Tesla.
The standard variant of Tesla’s variant Y with rear-wheel drive now starts at $42,990, while the Model Y Long Range and Model Y Performance cost $47,990 and $51,490, respectively. The Model S Plaid now starts at $87,990, while the standard Model S has reduced to $72,990. Starting price for the Model X is $77,990 (basic) or $92,990 (Plaid). The company has had a difficult few weeks; it recently recalled Cybertrucks due to potential accelerator pedal problems, reportedly let go of 10% of its workforce, and announced a drop in first-quarter deliveries.
