Meta‘s Threads app currently has more than 150 million monthly users, an increase of around 20 million from February. Mark Zuckerberg revealed the most recent user counts during Meta’s first-quarter earnings conference, stating that the app “continues to be on the trajectory that I hope to see.”
The report indicates that Threads is continuing to expand healthily, but at a slower rate than its first spectacular rise. The software had over 100 million downloads in its first week, but thereafter noticed a decline in engagement. However, Threads has shown more constant growth in the previous six months, and Zuckerberg has suggested that the service might someday become Meta’s next billion-user product.
Notably, according to certain criteria, Threads appears to be outperforming X (previously known as Twitter). According to Apptopia’s estimates, Threads has more daily users in the US than X, as Business Insider previously reported last week. (X claims to have 550 million daily users worldwide.) Taylor Swift joined Threads to promote her most recent album, which was another huge victory for the network.
For the time being, Threads stands out among Meta’s applications in that it doesn’t contain advertising, meaning that the business doesn’t directly profit from the app. If Threads keeps growing, it will probably alter in the near future. Prior to this, Zuckerberg stated that the business would “focus on monetization” only when the app had reached a certain level of user growth.
