With the possible exception of Spotify Premium, the best things in life are free.
After two years of a crisis caused by rising living expenses, a lot of people are still searching for ways to save money, such as reducing their monthly use of streaming services.
Are you prepared to make the move? This is how to remove your account from Spotify.
Also included are details on the cost-effective membership plans that you may change to right now.
How to cancel your Spotify Premium
The easiest way to cancel your Spotify Premium is to switch to the Free plan.
Log in to the Spotify website – you can’t change plans in the app – and you’ll see all of your account information. Scroll down the Overview page, and you’ll find a section called ‘Manage your plan’ underneath the ‘Subscription’ subheading, which will detail how much you pay.
From there, simply click on Change Plan and select Cancel Premium, which is underneath Spotify free.
You’ll still enjoy the benefits of Premium until your next bill date – at which point you won’t pay anything and will be fully switched over to the Free account.
Of course, the benefits of Spotify Premium will disappear then too, meaning you’ll hear ads amid your podcasts and music playlists.
You’ll have fewer options for skipping songs you don’t like – as well as listening to saved songs and podcasts offline.
How to delete a Spotify Free account
If you want to get rid of Spotify altogether, you can delete your account.
The best way to do that is to head to Contact Spotify Support, and click on Account Settings.
Once you’re there, you’ll see a few links giving you different options. You want the most obvious: Closing Your Account.
Non-Premium users will then be given the option to click a link and close their account for good.
What is the cheapest Spotify Premium subscription?
A standard Spotify Premium account costs £10.99.
If you still want to enjoy the additional features of Premium but also wish to cut costs, there are ways you can do both.
If you’re a student, you can enjoy the cheapest Spotify Premium subscription available priced at £5.99 per month.
This is available for eligible university students and includes ad-free music listening, offline play, and on-demand playback.
You could split the cost with someone else by joining the duo plan that can be used by two accounts for £13.99 a month.
There could also be more savings under the family plan which covers six accounts for £16.99 per month and includes access to all of Premium’s features and the Spotify Kids app.
To switch to a different kind of subscription, simply go to your account, select your current plan, and then scroll down to ‘see other plans’. You can then choose which one you want to hop over to.
If you’re new to Spotify Premium, you will qualify for three months free when you sign up to a plan.
