At long last, MediaTek has revealed its much anticipated Dimensity 9300+ chipset. The new CPU will be presented on May 7 during the company’s developers conference, according to the announcement. Although the silicon giant did not provide any information about the CPU, it is anticipated to have more features than the Dimensity 9300 SoC standard. Since the event is focused on AI, it is also anticipated to have AI capabilities. Notably, it’s been rumored that the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ will be available with the Vivo X100s shortly.
The company made the news on Weibo and included information on the MediaTek Dimensity Developers Conference (MDDC) 2024 in a post, as reported by GSMArena. Next Tuesday, at the event, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset will be revealed. Additionally, it hinted at “more surprises” for the occasion but gave no details. Interestingly, the business has chosen the hashtag “#AIeverything” for the occasion.
Although official sources have not released information on the chipset, a tipster on Weibo revealed some of its characteristics in a previous leak (via innoGyan). The CPU, according to the tipster, will include an enhanced Cortex-X4 core, which will clock at 3.4GHz instead of 3.25GHz like the ordinary Dimensity 9300.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ is also tipped to feature an AI Processing Unit or APU. While no details are known, it is believed to be a tweaked Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which is commonly used for AI computing. The chipset is expected to power on-device processing for AI features being created by smartphone brands and Android developers.
As per an earlier report, the Vivo X100s could be one of the first smartphones to be equipped with the new chipset. Part of the Vivo X100 series, the upcoming handset is expected to be unveiled soon alongside the Vivo X100s Pro and the Vivo X100 Ultra. The X100s could sport a Zeiss-branded ring-shaped rear camera island and a flat frame. Further, the back panel could get a textured finish.
