An iPad-optimized version of the well-known Nintendo emulator Delta, which debuted with great excitement on the iPhone App Store a few weeks ago, is already available. This past weekend, developer Riley Testut provided an update on Threads, stating that an iPad app has been under development and is currently receiving priority due to Apple’s recent stance on game emulators. The iPad app is “near completion,” and Testut’s Patreon supporters may download it right now via the AltStore, a substitute app store that he established a few years ago for sideloading iOS and iPadOS programs. If not, you may wait for it to arrive with version 1.6, Delta’s upcoming major release.
Testut also provided a little look at how it will function on the iPad in the article. Released as the GBA4iOS emulator’s replacement by Testut, Delta is compatible with several additional Nintendo systems, such as the NES, SNES, N64, and DS. The iPad version should be completed soon since, according to Testut, the team simply has to “finish up controller skins [and] fix some last bugs.” According to Testut, they are also working on device-to-device multiplayer, albeit there are still a few things on the list. As a bonus, he mentioned that an emulator for the SEGA Genesis is also in the works. Although it’s currently in beta, that should be ready “soon-ish.”
