The Hidden Words tool is one of the security features that Meta is introducing to Threads. Similar to Instagram, you can now filter out words, phrases, and even emojis on the app, which recently had over 150 million users.
By default, Threads will turn this feature off and remove anything it considers offensive in addition to potentially irrelevant or boring content. You can add additional terms you would like to have removed from the feed, like “weight loss,” “assault,” or any other derogatory term. To add your own terms, select “manage custom words and phrases” and enter anything you’re tired of seeing on Threads.
Two further features that are being tested on the platform are quotation controls and muting. With the first, you may choose to mute alerts for any interactions that occur with your postings. In this manner, you might avoid reading every answer and yet receive notifications about new followers or tags. You may select who can quote your article and even remove your own quotes with quotation controls. When these two functionalities could be accessible to all Threads users has not yet been announced by Meta.
