Possibly before the end of 2025, a battery-electric Toyota Hilux will enter mass production. Reuters news agency said that the announcement was made by Toyota Motor Thailand’s president, Noriaki Yamashita, at the Bangkok International Motor Show. If the electric vehicle will be manufactured in Thailand, the corporation has not yet stated.
During the company’s 60th anniversary festivities in 2022, the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV concept was introduced. During the auto show, Yamashita said that Toyota will send twelve of the new electric pickups to Pattaya, a tourist-friendly seaside city in Thailand, for a trial program starting the next month. Although the business stated that the EVs would be utilized for public transit during this testing phase, it did not elaborate on what this would mean.
It has been speculated that Toyota revealed its plans at the event after competitor brand Isuzu Motors confirmed that it would be manufacturing the battery electric D-MAX pickup in Thailand by the end of 2025. Precisely when the Toyota Hilux EV will go on sale or how much it will cost remains to be seen.
