For Android users, WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging apps, has released a new design upgrade. The most recent update aims to improve the app’s usability even though it doesn’t include any groundbreaking features. The update makes it easier to reach by placing the top navbar at the bottom. The purpose of the position adjustment is to keep the bar “closer to your thumbs.”
The navigation bar has been redesigned in this latest version. The default wallpaper of the WhatsApp Android app is now white, when it was previously green. It’s also worth noting that the four sections of the new navbar are still there, but their positions have changed and they are all represented by icons. Additionally, the new version of Status calls “updates”
As WhatsApp describes, it changed the order of the sections to “make it easier to access” what the users need. But, yes, it will take some time for those who got used to the old navbar to adapt to the new bar. Besides all these, the new navigational bar has the same functionality as the last one. You can check out the change from the tweet embedded below.
Regarding the rollout, the update has already reached some regions before the official announcement. WhatsApp is now rolling it out to more users worldwide. But as it is rolling out in waves, it can take a couple of days for everyone to get the new navbar. If you don’t have it yet, it’s worth checking if your app is updated to the latest version from the Google Play Store.
