All of the official information regarding the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s global model will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona in a few hours. In a video posted on the YouTube channel WekiHome, a white Chinese model was expertly dismantled into its component pieces. There are a lot of similarities with the Xiaomi 13 Ultra from the previous year, but some parts have been changed. For example, the Sony Lytia 900 sensor, whose steplessly variable aperture is shown in the deconstruction at minute 4.00, has been replaced.
Viewers are advised to switch on the auto-translation in the YouTube settings so that they at least have a rough idea of what the teardown expert is talking about. The lighting of the camera components is followed by some photos taken with the new Leica camera, and the updated photography kit is also discussed, which can now be used as a charger and has more hardware buttons than its predecessor. Some comparison photos show how much the “Ultra-Zoom” from ASIP has improved the quality of long-range zoom shots.
Battery, display and first gaming tests
After a detailed examination of some of the components, a battery charging test follows from minute 9, which shows that the 5300 mAh battery recharges at a maximum of 73.6 watts via USB-C and is fully charged in 41 minutes. The AMOLED display was measured with a base brightness of 521 nits, 752 nits in sunlight mode and a maximum of 1045 nits in full-screen mode. From minute 10 onwards, the first performance tests are also carried out, specifically in games. In most of the games tested, both temperature and power consumption remain within limits, with Genshin Impact proving to be the greater challenge in some cases. At the end of the video, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is reassembled in fast motion.
